Celebrate Our Sensory Garden

The entrance to The Airedale Library Garden has been transformed into a nurturing and welcoming oasis for the local community. This entrance has been specially designed by artist, Michaela Lesayova, as a sensory garden to stimulate it’s viewers.

What is a Sensory Garden?

Sensory gardens awaken our senses in ways that users might not usually encounter, offering different scent, touch, sound and sight experiences. They have a wide range of educational, recreational and therapeutic benefits. Sensory gardens are especially helpful for those with special education needs, those who are neuro-divergent and individuals struggling with mental health difficulties. Sensory gardens can combat over-stimulation and us all connect with nature.
