Growing-up I wanted to become…
“A rapper. When I was a teenager I used to make my own album covers before I had even recorded a song! I used to write other people's lyrics out and learn them by heart. In my teenage years I was obsessed!”
The thing that surprised me most about my career…
“How many opportunities there are that I could never see coming. I've performed in loads of different countries and audiences from all over have responded to my songs. I always thought I was writing for a small circle of people who lived near me, but it turns out that music is universal and people love to connect with stories.”
The best advice anyone ever gave me…
“Be yourself and own who you are. It's fine to enjoy other people's music and work, but don't try and be them. Let them influence you and find your own voice because that is what people want to see from you!”
Dan De Lissandri
Dan is a DJ and Music Producer. At weekends, Dan can be found DJing in music venues and at events. During the week he teaches DJing and Music Production to young people and adults. Dan is director of The Music Box Yorkshire CIC and is passionate about how the music and arts can bring people together.
Growing up I wanted to become…
“An astronaut or an archaeologist. But, as soon as I discovered the piano all I wanted to do was play music”
The thing that surprised me the most about my career…
“No matter how many great new songs are made, the old ones are always the best no matter how old you are.”
The best advice anyone ever gave me…
“Treat others as you would like to be treated and try to get along with everyone.”

Growing up I wanted to become…
“A singer! And my Dad said 'get your head out of the dream clouds' and look who's laughing now!”
The thing that surprised me the most about my career…
“If you put positivity out into the world and talk to people, then doors will open.”
The best advice anyone ever gave me…
“Do what you love and it won't feel like work.”
